My quick fire training tips to find your groove on the bike

Listen to my top tips on the bike to keep you in the best shape EVER to avoid training pit holes that are all too common in the world of cycling

Get the basics right, enjoy training and get faster

Cycle training isn't rocket science. If you have good structure, recovery, a balanced diet and reasonable rest you can make huge gains.
These are some of my top tips to get the most of spending hours in the saddle!​

Rest so you can give your best

Get enough sleep so you have the energy to train and allow your body to rebuild

Clean your bike and chain regularly

A clean chain can be an extra 10 watts! That might count in the sprint finale

Take it easy, super easy

Make sure your easy days are super easy so you can train hard on the days that count

Look for a cycling buddy

If you struggle with motivation, train in a group or with other friends

Comfort is key when riding a bike

Have a comfortable saddle :)

Measure your progress

Get a device that measures speed or power to stay motivated

Eat 5+ a day fruit and veggies

It’s hard to train if your muscles aren't fuelled

Relax and have fun when you ride

Allow for days when you are just spinning to the cafe or hitting the dirt trails to chat about how cool bikes are

Avoid junk miles

Don't waste time doing junk miles. Train in the right zones and get a strong base in for next season.

Turbo training

Understand why the turbo can be beneficial to your training for short, succint sessions or in the winter.
